Illustrated Guide – Hand Signals

HandSignals

We’ve reblogged this illustration from Boyfriend and ExBoyfriend BDSM Gallery. He’s got great taste in NSFW pics too.

This is a regular series of illustrated guides. You can find the others here.

Some Doms use a standard set of hand signals in their training, but they vary from Dom to Dom and House to House. Why use hand signals?
• Saves the Dom from raising his voice in a noisy room or over a distance
• Emphasises a command and helps to ensure it is not misheard or misinterpreted
• Provides a private form of communication in vanilla environments

The eyes are more reliable than the ears in communication, and visual communication is actually quicker for the brain to process.

An excellent guide. I have given it to my sub as required learning. He is a fast learner

Fantastic, hope it goes well Sir. I think they combine well with the position training links at the bottom, and it’s something that both D and s can enjoy.

What are some hand signals from a sub to her dom when out in public cause I can’t find any anywhere?

Hi Trista… There is no real universal language of hand signals. The ones shown are shared by some people for position training but others may prefer something different. I can see how having a shared sign language would be handy in public but I don’t know of any that are common or developed. I think it is something you would have to develop and practice with your partner.
