This Week in Kink – An Invitation

As an ex-journalist, I’ve had a lot of fun putting together the This Week in Kink (TWINK) posts. The kink community is far from invisible these days. It seems you can’t open a magazine, newspaper or social media app without some news. Some of it fun, some of it educational, some of it downright disturbing… but all interesting if you like to stay on top of what people are talking about.

We’ve been giving some thought to the format. TWINK has been popular with people subscribing to read it by email, but not popular at all with website visitors (and Google hates it). I think that’s because the news is varied, while people who visit websites are very targeted in what they are looking for. Busy, busy, busy, just show me the good stuff.

We’ve decided that it would make a great Fetlife Group, because that way:

  • you can click on topics you want to read and ignore the rest
  • it can be a dialogue, giving us all a chance to have a conversation about what we read/watch
  • you can share the news that’s interesting to you too

So, I’ve set up a new Fetlife group: This Week in Kink (News)

I’ve only just finished setting up the group, and you’re the first to get an invitation, so at the moment it’s a quiet party of only boydenon and I as members. But, I really hope you’ll join us. I’ll keep sharing news I think is interesting there, and I hope you’ll join the conversation with posts and discussion (or at least keep reading).

And please invite anyone you know who might enjoy current kink news. I would be grateful for your support.

Something to know if you’ve subscribed for emails:

We’ll refocus the writing on Deviance & Desire to talk about specific topics again, so the nature of your emails will change. If you signed up because of TWINK, and you’re not interested in the new content, then there is a one-click unsubscribe at the bottom of the emailers. Of course I hope you’ll stay, but no hard feelings and I hope you’ll join us on Fetlife instead.

Thanks for reading. It wouldn’t be worth writing things at all if no-one read, so I feel privileged.
